A reference in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology
The Hospital de Barcelona hosted a new edition of an innovative event about total knee arthroplasty.
After five sessions previously marked by the success of attendance and the level of solvency of its participants, in April at the Hospital de Barcelona a new edition of the seminar on orthopaedic surgery and traumatology was held. The event marks the difference in terms of innovation and promotion of knowledge and this time it was dedicated to total knee arthroplasty, a frequent, but complicated pathology to tackle.
Traumatology and rehabilitation professionals, physiotherapists, nursing staff and other specialists in this area came together at a meeting coordinated by the centre’s medical services and with prominent speakers. Two debates were the centre point around which the seminar was structured. After the opening, the event was started by concentrating on diagnosis by image to, in the second part, analyse the aetiology and the treatment of each case. On finishing the more theoretical part, the discussion time for each section was used to resolve any queries and the dynamic and participative analysis of clinical cases.
After six editions and different topics being dealt with, the seminars on orthopaedic surgery and traumatology held at the Hospital de Barcelona have become consolidated as a meeting point for orthopaedic surgeons, particularly those linked to Assistència Sanitària. Always with a monographic nature on an aspect of interest to the specialist community, they are an opportunity to place value on the excellence and promote continuous improvement. Carpal instabilities, shoulder blade fractures, traumatic elbows, periprosthetic infections and joint fractures of the tibia have been changed to knee arthroplasty at this latest edition.
These medical seminars want, in short, to configure a solid structure of knowledge around the Hospital de Barcelona and Assistència Sanitària and to promote a constant up-dating with a multidisciplinary approach. As a vehicle to reach excellence in handling pathologies of different specialities, periodically, they programme events of interest for the medical and nursing community from the healthcare system as a whole.
